EDUCATOR

"People will always remember how you made them feel" - Maya Angelou

Nya believes that an Educator is like a "tour guide" in a student's development. One of many people who guides a student into the type of Artist and person they want to be. Nya's teaching approach is to offer adaptable tools and resources so that young artists can build confidence in achieving their goals, use imagery to ignite their imagination, be authentically themselves, and have fun! Nya's classes are rooted in humor, positive encouragement, and conscious individuality so that her students have a sense of belonging. Nya aspires that her students leave her with a sense of self-empowerment that they can do anything as long as they are consistent, accountable, and their authentic selves on stage and off, all rooted in kindness and mindfulness.

Nya teaches the Martha Graham technique, Contemporary Dance (Graham-Dunham based), Dance Improvisation, Movement for non-dancers, and Dance Composition. She also gives workshops on Antiracism and Sense of Belonging. Nya considers herself a Dance Dramaturg too.

She is available for workshops, residencies, company classes, guest teaching artists, zoom classes, and private coaching. Contact her below for more information.
